1. how does the primer affect the color of the wallpaper?
Choosing wallpaper for a child’s room is not just a matter of design – color is also of great importance. Wondering why the same shade can look completely different depending on the wallpaper? It’s all due to the primer. Each material – whether smooth interlining, structured canvas, slightly rough brush or soft polyester fabric – has a unique texture and reflects light differently.
The effect? The same beige can appear warmer on one wallpaper and more gray or muted on another.
Therefore, when choosing wallpaper, it is worth paying attention not only to the design and color, but also to what material it will be printed on. It is this detail that often determines the final effect on the wall.
Colors may vary slightly depending on screen settings – this is natural. That’s why we recommend ordering a sample before making a decision.
PRO TIPP: Order samples! This is the key to peace of mind and confidence. See how the color looks on your chosen foundation, in natural light. But that’s not all! Wallpaper samples are much more than just color verification.
Thanks to them:
- You will check the quality of the primer: You will feel the texture, evaluate the quality of the material and see how it looks in person.
- You will compare variants of the pattern: If you’re choosing wallpaper with a repeating pattern, you’ll compare what the large and small versions look like. This will make it easier for you to make a stress-free decision.
- You will evaluate the details of the mural: For murals, a sample will allow you to verify the quality of the print under high magnification. You’ll check if the graphic is sharp or if you can’t see the pixels.
- You will see how the wallpaper fits into the interior: try the sample on the wall, see how the color harmonizes with the rest of the decor. Imagine what the whole room will look like.
2. what wallpaper for a child’s room will be safe and practical?
Wallpaper in a child’s room is more than a decoration. It is the backdrop for daily play, relaxation and creative ideas. Therefore, it should not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also practical and adapted to the needs of the little ones.
At Dekorillo we offer several types of wallpaper, which differ in texture, appearance and properties. The choice is worth matching not only to the style of the interior, but also to everyday situations – such as dust, delicate dirt or the need for easy application.
Can wallpaper be eco-friendly and suitable for an allergy sufferer?
All our wallpapers are suitable for children’s interiors – they do not contain harmful substances and are created to provide a safe environment for the little ones.
If you are looking for a wallpaper with a simple composition and smooth surface, a great choice will be a smooth ecological backing (interlining-cellulose). PRO polyester fabric, on the other hand, is extremely flexible, renders colors beautifully and is very easy to install – a frequent choice among parents who value comfort and a „wow” effect on the wall.

Can the wallpaper be cleaned?
Yes – our wallpapers can be gently wiped with a soft, damp cloth, which is sufficient for everyday, minor dirt. They cope well, for example, with handprints or dust.
However, it is worth remembering:
- Do not rub the surface hard
- Do not use detergents or rough sponges
- Indelible markers, paints or intense dirt can leave permanent marks
Wallpaper does not have to be indestructible to perform well on a daily basis. All it needs is proper use – and a little understanding 🙂
PRO TIPP:
Have you ordered a sample? Great! You can now easily test how the wallpaper behaves when it comes into contact with water. Gently spray the sample with water.
– If water soaks into the material – this means that the wallpaper may be less resistant to moisture and dirt.
– If water pearls on the surface – it’s a sign that the wallpaper is more durable and easier to clean on a daily basis.
This is a simple test that will give you a better understanding of the material’s properties – before the wallpaper goes on the wall.
How to choose a wallpaper color that promotes focus and tranquility?
Safe wallpaper is not just a matter of material – its impact on the child’s well-being also matters. One of the most important aspects is the color scheme.
- Subdued colors promote tranquility, concentration and peaceful sleep.
- Too intense, flashy colors can stimulate a child’s nervous system, sometimes leading to irritability or difficulty focusing.
This does not mean that the room has to be boring! Soft pastels, beiges, muted blues or greens can create a cozy and inspiring interior in which the child will feel comfortable.

Soft, natural shades do not distract the child – they help him focus on learning and playing, and the neutral background stimulates the imagination instead of overwhelming it. Subdued colors are also extremely versatile and timeless. As a result, wallpaper can accompany a child for many years – even when his interests or room arrangement change. What’s more, bright and soft colors are easy to match with different interior styles – from classic to modern.
3. wallpaper vs. mural – what are the differences and what to choose?
Wallpaper vs mural – key differences
The key difference lies in the composition of the design:
- Wallpaper is a motif that repeats across the surface – regular and rhythmic, it creates a background for the interior.
- A mural is a single, cohesive graphic that occupies an entire wall (or a large part of it) and gives a specific character to an interior, often becoming its focal point.
At Dekorillo, each wallpaper is created to size, which means that the pattern is tailored to the specific dimensions of the wall – no accidental trimming and no risk of the pattern „breaking” in the wrong place.

How do you fit the mural into the dimensions and layout of the wall?
In the case of a mural, conscious layout of the composition is key. It is worth taking into account:
- furniture arrangement,
- windows and doors,
- Other architectural elements (e.g., bevels, recesses).
That’s why murals often require a customized design approach and offer the opportunity for personalization. This way you can be sure that the graphics will not only be beautiful, but will also fit harmoniously into the space you create for your child.

What if the wall has bevels, doors or recesses?
You don’t have to worry about the commissioned mural being accidentally cut off or the most important elements of the graphic disappearing behind the furniture. At Dekorillo, we match the design to the specific dimensions of your wall, also taking into account its layout and design elements.
You can send us a drawing of the wall with the arrangement of furniture – so we will prepare the graphics so that everything looks exactly as you imagine. Bevels, doors, alcoves or unusual shapes? No problem. We customize the mural individually, so that it looks consistent and aesthetically pleasing – regardless of the layout of the room.
PRO TIPP:
Before anything goes to print, you will receive a visualization from us with the layout of the wallpaper strips.
You will see exactly how the graphic will be laid out on your wall.
This is the moment when you can:
- make their comments,
- suggest minor shifts,
- Or simply accept the project and start production.
This gives you full control over the final result – no surprises.
4. children’s room in the attic – how to use the slants?
Many parents choose to furnish a children’s room in the attic of a single-family house or townhouse. Bevels and irregular shapes may seem like a challenge – but at Dekorillo we turn them into an advantage!
Will custom wallpaper work in the attic?
Bevels have great potential for arrangement. They can become:
- A cozy corner for playing or reading,
- A bed space that will create a safe, homey hideaway,
- element that defines the style of the entire room.

Their ideal backdrop can be a custom wallpaper, which – tailored to the custom format of the wall – will emphasize the unique character of the interior. Moreover, a properly selected pattern can optically enlarge the space, add lightness to it and introduce pleasant harmony.
PRO TIPP:
At Dekorillo, we believe that every child deserves a unique space – one where they will feel happy and safe. Therefore, bevels, windows or doors are not an obstacle for us, but a challenge we are happy to take on.

5. how to avoid mistakes when installing wallpaper?
The 3 most common mistakes when wallpapering
Installing wallpaper with Dekorillo is a pleasure. You get strips cut to size, which you simply arrange on the wall – strip next to strip, butt to butt. But even such a simple process may not have the desired effect if you make basic mistakes.
Here are the 3 most common „cardinal sins” to avoid:
- Do not apply glue on the wallpaper – our wallpapers are interlining, which means that we only apply glue to the wall – evenly, with a roller. Applying glue to the back of the wallpaper can damage it and make it difficult to install. This is a method „from the old days” that doesn’t work today.
- Do not rub the joints with a dirty sponge – if glue appears on the joint of the strips, remove it gently with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid scrubbing! Even the best material can become abraded if cleaned too aggressively.
- Do not glue the wallpaper overlapping – join the strips together to achieve a smooth, uniform surface. Gluing „overlapping” causes visible joints and disrupts the continuity of the pattern. For a perfect effect, carefully match and press the strip to the strip.
With these few simple rules, the installation will go smoothly and the effect on the wall will really impress you.
PRO TIPP: Check the completeness of your order before you grab the glue! Before you begin installation, lay out all the wallpaper strips on a clean, dry floor – preferably in the order in which they will be glued.
Make sure that:
- You have received all the elements of the order,
- The pattern on the individual strips matches perfectly.
It’s a simple step that avoids stress and delays during installation and, most importantly, gives you confidence that your wall will look exactly as you imagine it.
